Pikey peak trek is a short trek in the lower Everest region which is best suited for the beginners, honeymooners, families, student groups, small groups and short time trekkers. This trail is comparatively less crowded than upper parts of the Everest region. Pikey Peak is also culturally rich trekking route where you can see ancient monasteries, Mani walls and Stupas. On a clear day we can witness the magnificent views of Everest, Kanchenjanga, Makalu, Ama Dablam, Mera Peak, Gauri Shanker and Numbur Himal to the North and deep valleys dropping away into the clouds to the South from Pikey Peak at 4060m. Late Sir Edmund Hillary had claimed the view of Everest from Pikey Peak to be his favorite one.

Our Trek is a week long. It begins with a long beautiful drive to Japre in a jeep. Then in couple of days we hike to the top of Pikey peak from where we view the sunrise. On fifth day we visit the Thupten Choling monastry. It is a celibate Tibetan Buddhist Monastery founded by His Holiness Trulsik Ringboche in 1960s after fleeing Tibet.

Arrival in Kathmandu

After landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Adventure Ascent representative will be there to greet you and take you to the hotel. We will then check-in at the hotel, freshen up and take a rest. Welcome dinner will be hosted in the evening. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Kathmandu: Sightseeing and Trek Preparation

After introduction with the city tour guide at the hotel you will begin your tour to Pashupatinath temple, Swayambhunath stupa and Bouddhanath stupa, which are all world heritage sites. Pashupatinath temple is one of the most important places of pilgrimage for all Hindus. Swayambhunath is also known as the Monkey Temple and Boudhanath Stupa is one of the largest stupas in the world. After the tour you will meet with your trekking guide, briefing about the trek and checking your trek gears will be done afterwards. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Drive to Japre and overnight in local tea house (2850m) 9 hours

We take a long beautiful drive to Japre in a jeep. We get the opportunity to see the countryside of Nepal along the way. We get to enjoy the view of green hills, terraced farms, rivers, waterfall and the mighty Himalayas. We stay overnight in Japre.

Trek to Pikey base camp (3800m) 7 hours

After breakfast in the local tea house we head towards Pikey base camp. The route leads us upwards through a beautiful landscape with lushly green forest. There aren’t much tea house along the way. We enjoy the peace and serenity of the path and may be lucky enough to spot some wild animals and birds. Overnight in a local tea house.

Sunrise View (4060m) and trek to Jase Bhanjyang

We start early today to witness the sunrise from Pikey peak. We observe the first rays of sun hitting the magnificent mountains. We stay for a while to take some snaps and appreciate the delightful beauty of the Himalayas. Then we head for Jase Bhanjyang, our next stop. The path is beautiful.

Trek to Junbesi (2600m) 5 hours

After tea and breakfast we head towards Junbesi village. Today our route leads us mostly downhill. We reach the village after 5 hours of walking. Junbesi is a calm and pleasant Sherpa village beside the river. The splendid view of Mount Number in the background perfectly matches the pleasant environment. You can explore the area and meet the locals and buy stuffs in the shop.

Visit Thupten Chholing Monastery (2950m) 3 hours

Today we head towards Thupten Chholing Monastery. It is a celibate Tibetan Buddhist Monastery founded by His Holiness Trulsik Ringboche in 1960s after fleeing Tibet. The monastery used to be the refugee camp for the Tibetans It is a short and beautiful upward walk to the Monastery. Most of the trail follows the bank of the river.

Trek to Phaplu (2413m) 4 hours

On the eight day we head towards Phaplu. The trail is easy. We follow the recently made seasonal road. We walk amongst the pine forest until we reach the point where two rivers meet called Beni. Then we start to see small settlements of farmers and tea houses along the path. After 4 hours of walking we reach Phaplu. In phaplu there are several lodges and a airport. Overnight in Phaplu.

Fly back Or drive back to Kathmandu.

After breakfast we head back towards Kathmandu. We can either fly back from Phaplu airport or drive back in a jeep. Overnight in Hotel in Kathmandu. After reaching Kathmandu you can roam around Thamel to buy souvenirs to take back home.

Fare well for now.

After checking out from hotel, our Adventure Ascent staff will drop you off to the International airport for your flight back towards your home. Farewell for now with hopes of meeting again for another adventure in Nepal.
